The iron foundry, TASSO, has benchmarked the prices for raw material against the publication of the Monthly Scrap Monitoring Index from The European Foundry Association (CAEF). But after more than 20 years, CAEF have announced that they will no longer publicate this index.

For TASSO it is important that customers can follow the historical data combined with the latest update for the price index. Therefore, TASSO now introduce the TASSO New Index for raw material for manufacture of cast iron bar, as follows:

TASSO Index Definiton
50% BDSV Sorte 2/8
25% FEAF Scrap
25% FEAF Basic Ingot

The TASSO New Index is available here:

Current Price position is based on October-November-December 2024 values:
CAEF Index: 450-443-441      equivalent to      Tasso New Index: 417-415-410

As previously the trigger level for price adjustments is normally in the range of +/-30 points in the CAEF index and this range will be continued in TASSO New Index.

“We hope to inform our customers thoroughly regarding the future cost base for raw material for production and supply of high-quality cast iron bar products”, says Henrik Bo Elmkvist, Commercial Director at TASSO.
