Cast iron for a sustainable future

End of life recycling
As one of Europe’s leading suppliers of continuous cast iron bars, TASSO plays an active role in promoting materials that support durability, resource efficiency, and circularity. Cast iron is 100% recyclable and can be reused again and again without degradation of its chemical elements. At the end of life, cast iron can be recycled into new products of the same standard and quality as the original material, helping reduce the need for primary raw materials.

The scrap collection infrastructure in Europe is well developed, and the most environmentally responsible solution is typically to ensure that worn-out applications are correctly dismantled, with cast iron separated from other materials and sold to a local steel scrap trader. Every tonne of recovered scrap can substitute one tonne of primary steelmaking, using existing technology and proven recycling processes.

Looking ahead, TASSO remains committed to strengthening the sustainability of our value chain through responsible sourcing, efficient logistics, machining capabilities, warehousing, and close cooperation with suppliers and customers. Our focus is to deliver high-quality cast iron bar solutions that contribute to longer product lifetimes, reduced material waste, and more efficient use of resources across the industries we serve.

Actions

Waste - Grøn

 Waste

Eliminating waste is one of our main environmental focus areas. We continuously work on turning more residual products into resources for new products.

Energy - Grøn

 Efficient energy use

We have changed the lighting systems in our facilities, fitting high-efficient and intelligent LED-panels which cover key areas.
