Grey Iron
Grey cast iron is a broad term used for a number of cast irons whose microstructures are characterized by the presence of flake graphite in the ferrous matrix. Grey iron is the most common engineering alloy because of its relatively low cost and superior machinability. Grey iron is used in applications where its high stiffness, machinability, vibration dampening, high heat capacity and high thermal conductivity are of significant advantage. The combination of performance and low cost makes Tasso grey iron ideal for use in a range of industries, such as automotive, oil and gas, pumps and compressors and many more.
